FAQ Category: System Requirements

Q: What computer hardware do I need?

A: DVPUTT is a computer intensive program. Please verify your computer meets the minimum requirements as stated below:

Windows based laptop or desktop

Windows XP (SP2) or Vista (Win2000 is not supported)

Internet Explorer 5.0 or more recent.

Processor speed: Pentium 4, 2.4GHz, or faster

Memory: 512 MB minimum (1 GB is recommended)

Hard Drive space: 1 GB minimum

USB port if using the webcam (recommended)

Firewire port if using your own camcorder

The DVPUTT interface is designed to fill a 1024x768 display.

If you are unsure if your computer can run DVPUTT, download the trial program and give it a try. DVPUTT is likely to operate on any new computer purchased within the last 2 years.

Q: What kind of camera do I need?

A: We strongly recommend using the Philips SPC900 webcam. This webcam is automatically controlled by the DVPUTT software so the only webcam adjustment you need to make is setting the manual focus ring. You can purchase the webcam at www.dvputt.com ; click the “Try and Buy” tab.

You can also use a firewire camcorder (not USB) but it must meet the following requirements and you will need to adjust the manual settings of the camcorder.

• Manual shutter speed adjustment (1/500). “Sports” mode is not adequate.

• Manual exposure adjustment (to set the correct amount of light).

Every camcorder on the market has a different set of features and menus. There are some settings that need to be disabled (ie. night mode, demo mode, etc.) for proper operation with DVPUTT. If you choose to use your camcorder, we can not offer support for your particular camcorder. You will need to read the camcorder user’s manual to become familiar with the settings and menus.
